Portland, Oregon: City of the Children of Liberty

(Berea International). Portland, Oregon is the second city where the Apostle of Jesus Christ Naasón Joaquín García will address within the framework of the 13th stage of his Universal Tour.

Like Seattle, Portland, and all of Oregon, are predominantly green. It rains an average of 142 inches 360 centimeters per year which allows its forests to remain green and leafy.

The city of Portland, is located on the Columbia River, that empties into the Pacific Ocean. The name of this city was decided by a coin toss. In 1845, Francis W. Pettygrove, born in Portland, Maine, and Asa Lovejoy, of Boston, Massachusetts, both wanted to name the city after their home towns. Mr. Pettygrove won the toss; If the opposite had been the case, the name of the city would have been Boston, Oregon.

Portland is distinguished for being the most egalitarian city in the country, in terms of gender, its population is 50.5% female, and it was the first city in the Union to have a female police officer in the 20s, and they elected the first female mayor in the 50’s. In addition, women own fifty percent of businesses in the city.

Pioneer Courthouse Square, is located in the heart of the city, in it, Portland’s location is celebrated. A commemorative post has been erected, pointing to different landmarks around the world. Among them the Great Wall of China at 5,510 miles (8,867 km) away, Mount Saint Helen at 72 miles (115 km), and Guadalajara, which is located 2,035 miles (3,275 km) from Portland, Oregon.

On Sunday, May 27, Portland and all of Oregon will celebrate another unique event, which will be engraved in the hearts of the children of God: the Excelentísimo Apostle of Jesus Christ, Naasón Joaquín García will appear before the Universal Church from the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in the heart of the city.
