WASHINGTON.— Sunday, July 14, 2019, marked a historic day for the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth, The Light of the World as it held its Regional Baptismal Ceremony in our nation’s capital, right on the steps of the hallowed Lincoln Memorial.
Over six thousand faithful from 80 congregations in 25 states – from as far south as Florida, to the northern state of Maine, and from Wisconsin to Mississippi – joined in the celebration to welcome hundreds of new members of the Church who decided to follow the path of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prior to the baptismal ceremony, those who decided to be baptized were invited by the officiating minister to voluntarily proclaim their faith, while the congregation and guests were witness of their decision to devote themselves to a life upholding the values taught by the Lord Jesus Christ.
Then, the aspirants to baptism, of their own accord, entered the baptismal font, and so, by invoking the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, were immersed in water by the authorized ministers. In this manner, the Church fulfills the mandate of the Lord “whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.”
The Light of the World Church normally conducts its religious services like baptisms, in its sacred temples, but occasionally the Church chooses a public environment to hold its religious events to share its faith with the public. The Church’s mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all people and bring humanity closer to God through His divine word and the hope of eternal life.
